Go! is a duo for marimba (4-mallets) and percussion by Robert McClure. The piece is high-energy and groove-oriented: rhythmic and harmonic support in the marimba allow for soloistic play from the other performer, on three congas, vibraphone, triangle, suspended cymbal, and two other hand drums (chosen by player and used for improvisation). The composer sums it up best:"This piece explores the natural energy in every percussionist that tells us to get up, go, and go fast!"
Go! won 2nd place at the 2008 IronWorks Percussion Duo Composition Contest and was premiered by the IronWorks Percussion Duo on October 12, 2008. For audio and video clips, click HERE.
